Smart Card Logins on the SANweb Cloud


Smart Card Registration

  1. Requirements:
    • You must have a DOD-issued CAC/Token or State Dept issued PIV, Snap or MyID card.
    • Your computer and browser must be configured to support Smart Cards.
  2. If already connected to the SANweb Cloud, log off and close your web browser.
  3. Insert your Smart Card into your reader.
  4. Open your web browser and connect to the SANweb Cloud login page.
  5. Enter your SANweb Cloud username and password.
  6. Select a Smart Card certificate if asked to do so. Either certificate will work. We prefer users do not select the "DOD EMAIL" certificate.
  7. Enter your PIN when prompted.
  8. DO NOT click on the "Submit Login Request" button or hit the <enter> key!
  9. Click on the "Smart Card Login" button.
  10. Select a Smart Card certificate if asked to do so. Either certificate will work. We prefer users do not select the "DOD EMAIL" certificate.
  11. Enter your PIN when prompted.
  12. When the SANweb Cloud Home Page is displayed, verify your Smart Card is registered.
    • Click on "Your Info" on menu bar at the top of the SANweb Cloud home page.
    • Look for the "Your CAC ID is:" line.
    • If there a 10 digit number or 8-chacter string shown, your Smart Card is registered.

Notes:

  1. Error messages usually means Smart Card registration has failed; try to register again
  2. If the error repeats, make a note of it and contact the SANweb Cloud Smart Card help desk using the e-mail link at the bottom of this page
  3. If Smart Card registration fails, username and password logins may be used while until the Smart Card login problem is resolved

Smart Card Logins (after registration)

  1. Ensure your Smart Card is in your reader.
  2. Connect to the SANweb Cloud login page.
  3. Click on the "Smart Card Login" button.
  4. If asked to select which certificate to use, select the same one you used when you registered your Smart Card.
  5. Enter your PIN if requested.

Username and Password Logins

  1. If you are currently logged in using a Smart Card card, close the browser.
  2. Reopen the browser.
  3. Connect to the SANweb Cloud login page.
  4. Enter your username and password.
  5. Click on the "Submit Login Request" button.

Notes:

  1. Clicking on the "Submit Login Request" button ALWAYS initiates a username/password login attempt.
  2. Clicking on the "Smart Card Login" button with a registered Smart Card in the reader ALWAYS initiates a Smart Card login attempt.
  3. Failure to select a certificate or enter a PIN when requested will cause the login to fail.
  4. While connected, your Smart CArd certficate and PIN information may periodically expire. You will need to enter your PIN again to stay connected.
  5. Clicking the "Smart Card Login" button without a CAC in the reader causes an error.
